Fashion360 - Supporting Ravishing Fashionistas’ Purpose to Empower

When you hear the words “Fashion Show”, what’s the first thought that comes to mind? If you said scenes of tall, ‘perfectly’ proportioned models gliding down the catwalk with no expression we wouldn’t blame you. This is what has been embedded in our society for so long and was deemed ‘normal’ or ‘acceptable’. In recent years we have witnessed a movement away from this stereotypical image of runway perfection towards a more embracing and empowering culture. Whilst this change in focus is promising for the industry, there is still so much more to be done in this space before we can truly accept it as the norm rather than a conversation starter.

Upma Kite, Mrs Australia Universal 2019 identified this disposition, inspiring her to break the mould with an event titled Ravishing Fashionistas, a glamorous Fashion Runway show comprising of models of diverse shapes, size, and age all with a goal to promote positive body image and help women to embrace themselves confidently by breaking through stereotypes surrounding this industry. All proceeds from these events go towards charities, the key beneficiary being Dignifying Women, a charity which raises awareness of domestic violence.

Here at Fashion360 we have always been strong advocates for diversity and body positivity, encouraging designers to thoughtfully design collections to cater for real bodies as well as diversifying age groups. This is at the core of our programs, a perspective which was intended to broaden designers’ minds, to look beyond the glossy, glazed looks and fine boned beauties to include real bodies, diverse capabilities and colourful personalities. We are proud to say that those who have remained true to this course have not only benefited financially but are a testament to themselves and women they cater for.

In light of this, when founder, Upma Kite, reached out for collaborative opportunities with Fashion360, it made perfect sense to come on board as a body of support. Having sold out shows in previous years, Ravishing Fashionistas are back bigger in 2021 with grand plans for another successful show at the Royal International Convention Centre on 3rd July.

We are proud to officially announce our support and hope you will join us at Ravishing Fashionistas’ fabulous celebration of diversity, self-confidence, body positivity, resilience and courage, to remove barriers of discrimination and let our Fashion Runways be a platform to reflect all people of the world!
