Fitting & Adjustments Workshop

Have you ever noticed how 2 similar classic dresses in the same size and fabric can look completely different when worn on the body? Or sometimes wondered why there are racks of beautiful designs with huge sale signs that still not sell? The reason is generally down to fit!

Huge consideration should be applied in the Pattern Construction, Fitting and Pattern Adjustment Process for a successful outcome. Unfortunately, there are many in the field lacking the knowledge to execute this properly, and even sometimes just using their dress-maker dummies as a reference form to fit. This is fine if designs are only intended for pole-shaped models which is usually not the case.

The human contour, however, is not straight forward and has many variations which pattern makers need to acquire knowledge of, to understand its relationship to the technicalities of the pattern construction of a garment.

If you are keen to better understand Form, Fit, Pattern and Adjustment, register to join us in the first cluster of Fitting and Adjustments Workshops. Here you will learn to differentiate between different body shapes, how they relate to garment pattern features, be able to accommodate for ‘peculiar’ body features and create patterns with a great fit for an ideal design outcome!
