Garment Grading Workshop

Fashion360 Grading Workshop

A most common complaint amongst customers in the clothing market are the inconsistent sizing and fit across fashion brands. There are numerous reasons for this problem, the main one being a lack of technical knowledge from those responsible for the sizing in spec sheets provided to manufacturers, and as a result, leaving it up to the manufacturer to automate sizing requirements which is NOT generally the ideal way, as different styles with different textiles perform and drape differently, hence, should be individually accessed to allocate appropriate increments to all the cardinal points of the pattern. Great designs should not only look great on the sample size but should be appropriately proportioned to have the same aesthetics across all sizes!

Are you a designer, pattern maker, sewer, clothing production manager or garment technician, wishing to understand grading techniques and applications more fully? Would you like to have more knowledge and practical skills with best approaches to analysing a design for grading to maintain realistic body proportions? Then this workshop is a fantastic investment and invaluable for you and the fashion business you work for!

Learn about the various sizing systems from leading countries and Australia and develop an analytical eye and skills for better application of increments to grade for proportional outcomes. This workshop is the first of 3 progressive groups of workshops and requires a minimum understanding of some pattern fundamentals (For those interested but lack the fundamentals, check out our Creator workshops).

Table space is limited to 4 people as well as to ensure each participant has adequate time for questions and practise without the delay of a large group.

We are in an era of sustainable considerations so learn the approach to grading that reduces wastes from unwanted badly engineered garments!
