Colleen Tighe Johnson is a proud Gomeroi Yinarr woman who possesses a love for art and fashion. Her fashion label, Buluuy Mirrii, meaning Black Star, harnesses the spirit of her ancestors to revive the Gomeroi Dreaming Stories. Buluuy Mirrii synthesises Aboriginal art, culture and fashion, showcasing local Aboriginal talent.

The collections include street ready-to-wear as well as evening attire. They encompass elements of the Story Telling, The Dreaming of the Gomeroi people. These collaborations of artists and designers focus on the personal narrative of each individual creative. Colleen began her journey with Buluuy Mirrii in 2013 at the Indigenous Fashion Showcase for L’Oreal’s Australian Fashion Week in Melbourne. Since then, her designs have graced the world stage in New York City, Canada, New Zealand and Paris to name a few.

Buluuy Mirrii targets high profile personalities in the media, entertainment and public arena. Colleen provides this market with unique designs that not only portray a cultural story but also their personal story, bringing the outfit to life and creating a truly unique artwork.

Colleen will launch this year with a ready-to-wear range predominantly targeted for millennials.
